Tourism minister urges companies in the field to list on the stock market

Romania’s tourism minister Elena Udrea urged investors in the field to list companies at the Bucharest stock exchange, as it is not the appropriate time to privatize those where the ministry holds an equity position, NewsIn informs.
The companies in the Tourism Ministry’s portfolio could be privatized through the stock market after the body assesses the best way to sell-off. The ministry is the majority shareholder in 12 such companies, out of which only a few are listed on the capital market. Also, if privatized through the BSE, the respective companies could draw funds, Udrea said.

She attended the opening bell of the BSE and said a signal for the economy is needed. “I am nervous as I don’t know too much about the stock market,” Udrea said, adding she lacked a broker.

“It is important to give a signal over the solid economy and financial system and the stable capital market,” she said and was then encouraged by bourse president to return to BSE when tourism companies list.
