Ten largest insurers in Romania grabbed over three quarters of the market in Q1



The ten largest insurers in Romania had an aggregated share of 77.33 percent of the market in the first quarter of the year, after posting combined gross premiums written of 1.87 billion lei (438.66 million euros), show the data provided by the market watchdog CSA, NewsIn informs.
Insurer Allianz-Tiriac Asigurari is still the leader, with gross premiums written of 349.30 million lei on the life and general insurance segments.

Omniasig-Vienna Insurance Group comes second with 331.59 million lei and Asirom came put on third, with 205.42 million lei. The fourth position is taken by Astra, with gross premium written of 199.14 million lei, while the fifth is BCR Asigurari with 162.94 million lei.

The second-largest insurer scored first on the general insurance segment, a position previously occupied by Allianz-Tiriac.

Gross premium written for the the Romanian insurance market totaled in the first quarter 2.42 billion lei, 1.46 percent up versus the same period last year, as the general insurance policies compensated the drop registered by the life insurance segment.
