Romanian leu stagnates in mid session



The benchmark exchange rate posted today by the National Bank of Romania increased by 0.36 percent from the previous session to 4.2116 lei per euro and the national currency idled at noon close to this level after losing ground in the early trades, on a market attuned to the regional sentiment, NewsIn informs.
BNR announced a benchmark exchange rate of 4.1963 lei per euro on June 12.

Banks sold the euro with 4.20 lei on opening today, and then the leu lost ground throughout the morning to a maximum exchange rate of 4.2180 lei per euro. At midday, the national currency floated around 4.2120 and at 1:30 p.m. banks bought the euro with 4.2110 lei and sold it for 4.2160 lei.

In the region, emerging currencies posted a similar evolution. The Hungarian forint depreciated from 277.25 to 279.50 versus the euro and floated around this level. The Polish zloty idled at 4.5150 units per euro after dropping to 4.4740.
