Arcelor Mittal, 8-mln euro investment in Galati



Arcelor Mittal has completed the installation of an automatic model-based control of plate thickness and profile system at Heavy Plate Mill 2, after 8mln-euro investment.
The system which will enable a reduced plate consumption is currently in the final trial stage.

Heavy Plate Mill 2 has the highest production of heavy plate of the Group, followed by Burns Harbor steel plant in United States and Gijon in Spain.

This year, Arcelor Mittal has also finalized the installation of the dedusting system at Steel Plant 1. The dust removal process reduces dust emissions by nearly 95%.

Steelmaker Arcelor Mittal is present in 60 markets and has work points in 20 countries in four continents, on all key-markets of the steel industry, from emerging to mature.

In 2008, Arcelor Mittal recorded 124.9 bln USD revenues and gross steel output of 103.3 million tons, accounting for 10% of the world’s steel production. The steelmaker is listed at the stock exchanges in New York, Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, Luxemburg, as well as Spain’s stock markets in Barcelona, Bilbao, Madrid and Valencia.
