Romanian leu gains 0.26% versus euro

The benchmark exchange rate settled by the National Bank of Romania at 4.2067 lei per euro lowered 0.26 percent over yesterday, on investors' higher risk appetite, which also pushed other emerging currencies up, as BNR's decisions failed to have a significant impact, NewsIn informs.
NBR posted a benchmark exchange rate of 4.2175 lei per euro yesterday.

The central lender today decided to cut the key interest rate from 9.50 to 9 percent a year, but also to reduce the required reserve ratio from 18 to 15 percent for lei-denominated liabilities and from 40 to 35 percent for those in foreign currency.

The national currency gained from 4.2117 to 4.2050 versus the euro in the early trades and at 2 p.m. banks were buying a euro with 4.2060 lei and selling it for 4.2140 lei.

In the region, the zloty climbed from 4.49 to 4.46 over the single European currency and then slipped to 4.4570, while the forint advanced from 275.30 to 272.30 against the euro and then settled at 272.50.

NBR’s benchmark exchange rate also indicates a 0.98 percent rise of the national currency versus the U.S. dollar, from 3.0087 to 2.9792 lei per dollar.
