Wizz Air carried 86% more passengers in first quarter
Wizz Air, one of the largest low-fare airline carried 720,000 passengers in first six months this year, 86% more compared to a year-ago statistics.
The first-half load factor was 85%. “The aircraft load factor reaches even 90% during vacation periods”, Natasa Kazmer, communication director of the carrier told Wall-Street.
In June 29 - July 5 interval, Wizz Air operates 122 weekly flights from and to Bucharest. “As compared with last year, when Wizz Air was operating 74 weekly flights, the increase in 2009 is of 165%”, she continued.
Wizz Air entered Romania in July 2006 and established the first air base in Bucharest, in June 2007 and the second one in Cluj in 2008. The third base was opened in Timisoara in February 2009.
