Delhaize completes acquisition of Prodas supermarkets
Belgian-based Delhaize announced the completion of the acquisition process through its fully-owned subsidiary Mega Image of four stores previously operated under the Prodas banner in Bucharest, Reuters informs.
According to the press release remitted by the food retailer, the results of the four supermarkets will be consolidated in Delhaize’s financial reports as of July 13, 2009.
For 2008, the revenues of the four supermarkets amounted to 12.3 million euros, Reuters reported.
Delhaize announced this acquisition in March this year, but refused to disclose the size of the deal. The transaction was expected to close in third quarter this year, the company said in March.
The transaction is pending for approval by Romanian antitrust authorities.
Delhaize took over the full control over supermarket chain Mega Image in 2004.
