Benchmark exchange rate edges down to 4.2137 lei/ euro



National Bank of Romania posted today a benchmark exchange rate of 4.2137 lei per euro, 0.09 percent below the yesterday’s level, on a good performance of the local currency in the early trades, the market embracing the regional trend, NewsIn informs.
Yesterday's benchmark rate stood at 4.2175 lei per euro.

The euro began the day at 4.2095 versus the euro rates, but it soon increased to 4.2147 and at 1:35 p.m. banks were buying a euro for 4.2125 lei and selling it for 4.2175 lei.

The Polish zloty and the Hungarian forint swayed violently before noon. The zloty decreased from 4.2795 to 4.30 per euro, returned to 4.2875 and resumed the downturn to 4.3085 per euro. Similarly, the forint wavered between 272.21 and 274.88 versus the euro and then settled at 273.13.

The leu/dollar ratio stood today at 2.9964, 0.73 percent below yesterday's 3.0183.
