Exchange rate set at 4.2443 lei/euro



The benchmark exchange rate posted today by the National Bank of Romanian reached a three-month high, of 4.2443 lei per euro, 0.45 percent above yesterday's level, on a higher volatility than that of regional markets, NewsIn informs.
The rate has not been this high since March 27, when it stood at 4.2484 lei per euro. Yesterday NBR announced a rate of 4.2254 lei per euro.

The leu slipped this morning from 4.2344 to 4.2525 versus the euro and at 13:40 banks were buying a euro for 4.2440 lei and selling it for 4.2485 lei.

The Polish zloty first rose from 4.33 to 4.3135 per euro but then tumbled to 4.3250 and the Hungarian forint grew steadily from 275.01 to 273.20 per euro.

The leu also decreased versus the U.S. dollar by 0.27 percent, from yesterday's 3.0004 to 3.0085.
