Cosmote: Antitrust investigations is not blocking takeover proceedings
Cosmote has recently submitted all the necessary documents for its Zapp takeover to antitrust authorities, and the company is following all the required steps to seal the deal.
The Competition Council is analyzing the antitrust issues raised by the merger, and whether the competitive effects of the transaction comply with the antitrust regulation. A decision in this matter is due to be made within 30 days since the notification is deemed effective.
The launch of Cosmote in Romania in 2005 set out a real competition in the market, in which the outcome benefits the Romanian consumer.
“Acquisition of Zapp by Cosmote can only tighten the competition, which benefits the millions of Romanians consumers keen to communicate in a more accessible way, with a wider range of services available, especially in mobile broadband”, Cosmote said.
The size of the deal is estimated at around 61 million euros.
