Mid-session exchange rates edges down



The benchmark exchange rate posted by the National Bank of Romania slipped 0.04 percent today to 4.2378 lei per euro, after the national currency strengthened in the first part of the day, on a market dominated by apathy, with few transactions.
NBR set a benchmark exchange rate of 4.2397 lei per euro yesterday, NewsIn informs.

The leu floated within a narrow range this morning, between 4.23 and 4.2380 per euro, but stabilized near 4.2350. At 1:25 p.m. banks were buying a euro with 4.2333 lei and selling it for 4.2403 lei.

In the region, the Polish zloty depreciated from 4.2390 to 4.2720 over the euro and then climbed to 4.2580, while the Hungarian forint increased constantly from 273.75 to 272.4 versus the European currency.

NBR’s benchmark rate for the U.S. dollar idled at yesterday's level of 2.9797 lei per dollar.
