Leu firms against euro at midday



The benchmark exchange rate dipped today by 0.05 percent, to 4.2356 lei per euro after the leu climbed before noon, the market standing poor in trades, NewsIn informs.
The National Bank of Romania posted yesterday a benchmark rate of 4.2378 lei per euro.

After rising from 4.2375 to 4.2340 versus the euro this morning, the leu camped close to 4.2350 and at 1:15 p.m. banks were buying a euro for 4.2338 lei and selling it for 4.2365 lei.

The Polish zloty strengthened from 4.2813 to 4.2645 per euro and remained there, while the Hungarian forint increased from 272.8 to 271.25, dipped and returned to 271.6 per euro.

The benchmark exchange rate climbed by 0.15 percent versus the U.S. dollar, from yesterday's 2.9797 to 2.9843.
