Gas supplier GDF SUEZ Energy Romania sees profit down 30% y/y in 2008, to lei 128.5m



Gas supplier GDF SUEZ Energy Romania, former Distrigaz Sud, recorded a net profit of 128.58 million lei last year, 30 percent down over 2007, according to data sent to the Trade Registry Office (ONRC).
The company reported a net profit of 182.34 million lei in 2007.

GDF SUEZ Energy Romania had net revenues of 3.73 billion lei last year, versus 3.21 billion lei in 2007. Its commercial receivables amounted to 737.75 million lei at the end of 2008, from 728.93 million lei at the end of 2007.

The company slashed investments by 25 percent this year to 228 million lei, from 304 million lei in 2008.

Distrigaz Sud was rebranded as GDF SUEZ Energy Romania at the end of April. It currently counts 6,100 employees.

Distrigaz Sud was acquired by the French group Gaz de France on May 31, 2005. GDF SUEZ Energy Romania currently belongs to French-Belgian group GDF SUEZ, after the two groups merged in July last year. GDF Suez owns 51 percent of GDF SUEZ Energy Romania.

GDF SUEZ Energy Romania has stakes in gas companies Congaz, Tulcea Gaz, Wiron Gaz, Vital Gaz and S.C. Distrigaz Sud Retele SRL.
