Leu drops 0.13% against euro



The benchmark exchange rate posted by the National Bank of Romania rose 0.13 percent to 4.2143 lei per euro, on a low volatility market in the early trades, followed by a strong decline in mid-session, in line with the region, where emerging currencies fell significantly over the euro, NewsIn informs.
NBR settled an exchange rate of 4.2088 lei per euro yesterday.

The euro was traded for 4.2084 lei at debut, but the exchange rate climbed close to 4.22 lei per euro around noon. At 1:15 p.m. banks were buying a euro with 4.2125 lei and selling it for 4.2216 lei.

In the region, the Polish zloty plummeted from 4.12 to 4.17 versus the euro and the forint depreciated from 269.85 to 272 per euro.

For the U.S. dollar, NBR’s exchange rate added 0.36 percent to 2.9773 lei per dollar, from 2.9665 in the previous session.
