Leu loses ground to euro at the midsesssion



The benchmark exchange rate settled by the National Bank of Romania rose 0.23 percent to 4.2239 lei per euro, on a market with low volatility in the first part of the session, in line with the region, NewsIn informs.
NBR posted a benchmark exchange rate of 4.2143 lei per euro yesterday.

The euro traded for 4.2180 lei in the early trades and then climbed to 4.2240. The leu started to gain ground after noon and at 1:30 p.m. banks were buying a euro with 4.2210 lei and selling it for 4.2240 lei.

In the region, the Polish zloty plummeted from 4.16 to 4.21 over the euro and then recovered to 4.19, while the Hungarian forint slipped from 273 to 275 versus the euro and then came back to the level on opening.

For the U.S. dollar, NBR’s benchmark exchange rate added 0.37 percent to 2.9884 lei per dollar, from 2.9773 in the previous session.
