Blue Air flies to four new destinations in winter



Smart flying airline Blue Air said its global route network will encompass four new destinations with the start of the 2009-2010 winter timetable (October 25, 2009 – March 27, 2010) on the routes Bacau-Catania, Milano (Bergamo)-Lyon, London-Salonic and Milano (Bergamo)-Napoli.
“The number of destination was increased as a result of our passengers travel needs. Apart from flights from Romania, this year we will increase frequency of international destinations, in order to consolidate our position in the European market. After operating Brussels-London route, this year, with the start of the winter timetable we will add three new international destinations”, said the director of Blue Air, Adrian Ionascu.

Blue Air is the first Romanian airline that operated low-cost flights with 100% Romanian private capital. Blue Air is authorized to operate scheduled domestic and international commercial flights, chain charter flights in cooperation with tour operators and ad-hoc charter flights. At present, the Blue Air fleet consists of nine aircrafts, Boeing 737, three 737-300 series and two 737-400, one 737-500 and three 737-800 Next Generation with capacities between 136 and 189 seats. The company signed in 2008 contracts for acquiring five Boeing 737 Next Generation to serve Blue Air flights.

In 2008, the company carried over 1,110,000 passengers. Year-over-year, Blue Air recorded 23% increase.

For this year, Blue Air expects a total number of passengers of 1,700,000. As for economic indicators, the carrier reported sales of 124,130,000 euros in 2008 and expects 170 million euros for 2009.
