Leu slightly firmer versus euro



The benchmark exchange rate settled by the National Bank of Romania slipped 0.03 percent to 4.2298 lei per euro, on an apathetic market, with few transactions, moving against the regional flow, as the neighbor currencies grew significantly after investors showed more interest on the emerging markets, NewsIn informs.
Yesterday, NBR showed a benchmark exchange rate of 4.2310 lei per euro, the maximum level of the past four weeks.

The leu waved within a small range at debut, between 4.23 and 4.2350 per euro. At 1:10 p.m. banks were buying a euro with 4.226 lei and selling it for 4.235 lei.

In the region, the Polish zloty gained from 4.15 to 4.11 versus the euro, while the Hungarian forint soared from 271.1 to 269.3 over the single European currency.

For the U.S. dollar, NBR’s exchange rate lowered 0.59 percent to 2.9571 lei per dollar, from the previous 2.9747.
