PepsiAmericas opens Europes largest bottling plant in Romania



PepsiAmericas Romania, the second largest soft-drink maker said it would open the largest bottling facility in its European network in early September, the total value of the project amounting to 150 million dollars.
The new Pepsi Americas bottling facility will be located in Dragomiresti, Ilfov, and will cover 30,000 square meters.

PepsiAmericas said it would provide additional details on the new facility at a media briefing scheduled for September 1.

PepsiAmericas bought Quadrant-Amroq Bottling, producer and distributor of Pepsi drinks in Romania.

QAB Romania holds two soft-drink bottling plants, one in Bucharest and one in Covasna for mineral water.

PepsiAmericas Romania posted sales of 744,806,819 lei (202.3 million euros) for 2008, up 12.5% from 651,066,417 lei (195.5 million euros) a year earlier.

PepsiAmericas Romania’s after-tax profit jumped 17.5% YoY in 2008, up to 136,500,284 lei (37 million euros). In 2007, the profit of the soft-drink maker’s local unit soared 57.8% year-on-year.

Quadrant Amroq Beverages is the authorized bottler and distributor of Pepsi, Prigat, Lipton Ice Tea and Roua Muntilor for Romania and Moldova.
