Tarom adds France route

Airline carrier Tarom will fly new route between Bucharest and France’s Lyon from September 2, 2009.
Tarom will operate 4 weekly flights from Bucharest to Lyon on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

In order to mark the introduction of the new flights to Lyon, Tarom has introduced special fares that start from 155 euros (all fees included). Lyon is the second destination operated by Tarom in France, after Paris.

The flight timetable was tailored to meet the requirements of Tarom’s short-haul passengers, assuring fast connection to Lyon.

“France has always been a traditional destination for the national carrier. Tarom operates flights to Paris since 1920”, said Ruxandra Brutaru, managing director of the company.

The airline operates flights to three continents, flying to over 40 destinations in Europe, North Africa and Middle East.

In 2008, Tarom carried over 2 million passengers, 3% more than a year earlier.

The carrier reported revenues of 404 million dollars in 2008 (288.5 million euros), 10% more than in 2007.
