Top cheapest convertible cars in Romania
The economic recession has slashed prices of new convertible cars in Romania to 13,000 euros (VAT included). Therefore, with 25,000 euros, you can buy one of the 11 car models available in the market.
Ford Focus CC - 24,988 euros
Ford convertible costs between 24,988 euros and 29,400 euros.
Ford Focus offers 534-liters luggage capacity with the hard-top up and 248 liters when hood folded.
According to the Association of Car Manufactures and Traders, only one Focus CC was sold in Romania in the first seven months this year.
Volkswagen EOS - 24,200 euros
The price for a Volkswagen EOS starts from 24,200 euros. The range’s rocketship costs 35,770 euros.
The EOS has 380 liters of boot storage space with the roof in place and 205 liters with the roof folded down.
32 EOS cars were sold in the first seven months this year, 78% fewer than148 cars the same period of last year.
Opel Astra TwinTop - 24,040 euros
The peak model, Astra coupe-cabriolet costs 30,490 in the engine version that puts out 200 HP in the Cosmo options pack.
Astra TwinTop measures 4.47 meters in length, 1.75 meters in width and 1.41 meters in height. The towing weight ranges between 1,500kg and 1,700kg.
3 Astra cars were sold this year, versus 18 the same period last year.
Mini Cabrio - 23,200 euros
Mini Cooper Cabrio 1.6 liters 120 HP costs 23,000 euros while CooperS Cabrio 1.6 liters petrol 175 HP is priced at 27,250 euros.
Mini Cooper’s rocketship is John Cooper Works that builds 211 HP and costs 32,070 euros.
11 Mini Cabrio were sold in the first months this year, versus 13 in Jan-Jul 2008.
Peugeot 308CC - 22,700 euros
The cheapest model costs 22,700 euros in the petrol version with 120 HP. The peak model costs 25,500 euros.
Up to now, only one Peugeot 308CC was sold, model available in the Romanian market since July 2009.
Volkswagen Beetle Cabrio - 19.900 euro
Beetle Cabrio has only one diesel engine option, of 1.9 liters 105HP. Engine options on petrol are 1.4 liters 75 HP, 1.6 liters 102 HP, 1.8 liters 150 CP, 2.0 liters 115 HP. Luggage space is 200 liters.
8 Beetle Cabrio were sold this year, 166% more than a year earlier.
Peugeot 207CC - 18.700 euro
The starting price for a 207CC is 18,700 euros for the petrol version. The peak model costs 21.470 euros.
The 207CC has 449 liters of boot storage space with the roof in place and 187 liters with the roof folded down.
23 207CC were sold in January-July interval in Romania, 26% fewer than 31 cars sold a year earlier.
Mazda MX-5 - 18.400 euro
Mazda MX-5 roadster has a starting price of 18,400 euros, while MX-5 roadster coupe costs 22,500 euros and may reach up to 27,200 euros.
5 Mazda convertibles have found their owners in Romania this year, versus 11 cars sold in the same period of last year.
Opel Tigra - 16.275 euro
The price for 90HP engine option in Enjoy version starts from 16,275 euros.
The most expensive model, Tigra Twin Top costs 18,585 euros (Sports version, 125 HP).
Tigra Twin Top measures 3.92 meters in length, 1.68 meters in width and 1.36 meters in height.
The car offers 440-liters luggage capacity with the hard-top up and 250 liters when hood folded. The car weighs in at 1,200 kg.
5 Opel Tigra were sold in the first seven months, 61.5% fewer than the same period of 2008.
Smart Fortwo Cabrio - 13.840 euros
The engine options are 1.0 liters petrol 71 HP, 84 HP, 98 HP and 800 cc diesel engine that puts out 45 HP.
4 Smart ForTwo Cabrio were sold in the first seven months this year, 60% fewer than the same period of last year.
Citroen C3 Pluriel - 13,100 euros
The petrol engine version puts out 75HP has a promotional price of 13,100 euros. The car offers luggage space of 266 liters.
Two Citroen C3 Pluriel were sold in Romania this year.
