Sonia Nastase takes reins of Howard Johnson



Sonia Nastase has been appointed chief executive of Howard Johnson Grand Plaza hotel, with effect from mid October. Sonia Nastase is thus the first woman to serve in this post in the local five-star lodging industry.
She will officially take over the new duties in mid October 2009, from Peter Craig Martin, the head of the hotel since 2006.

Sonia Nastase brings an extensive 12-year experience in hotel industry, experience that included both an active involvement in the managing process, as sales and marketing director of Howard Johnson Grand Plaza and strategic contribution as consultant at Trend Hospitality, where she served as Senior Associate since 2005. In this post, she had the possibility of overseeing and coordinating the pre-opening process of Ramada hotel units in Romania.

Earlier, she worked with other hotel companies, such as World Trade Center and Athenee Palace Hilton.

Sonia Nastase graduated Magna Cum Laudae from MBA Romanian-Canadian and followed various courses in sales and management at Hilton International and Wyndham Hotel Group in countries like United States, Italy, Turkey and Romania.
