Midday Forex: Leu firms slightly against euro



The benchmark exchange rate settled by the National Bank of Romania dropped 0.12 percent to 4.2382 lei per euro, as players focused investments on the emerging currencies, which pushed the national currency up, NewsIn informs.
NBR posted an exchange rate of 4.2434 lei per euro yesterday.

The leu stood at 4.2430 – 4.2480 versus the euro on opening and then rose to 4.2325. At 1:30 p.m. banks were buying a euro with 4.2360 lei and selling it for 4.2410 lei.

In the region, the zloty slipped from 4.0970 to 4.1072 versus the euro and then hiked to 4.0870, while the forint cheapened from 271.59 to 272.45 per euro and recovered to 271.50 afterwards.

For the U.S. dollar, NBR’s exchange rate lowered 0.95 percent to 2.9292 lei per dollar, from 2.9572 in the previous session.
