Midday Forex: RON/EUR up to five-month high



The benchmark exchange rate settled by the National Bank of Romania rose 0.13 percent to 4.2552 lei per euro, the highest level of the past five months and a half, on a calm market, without significant transactions, the leu losing ground on a regional flow, NewsIn informs.
NBR posted an exchange rate of 4.2495 lei per euro in the previous session.

The single European currency was traded for 4.2550 lei on opening and climbed gradually to 4.2660. At 1:30 p.m. banks were buying a euro with 4.2576 lei and selling it for 4.2666 lei.

In the region, the zloty fell from 4.1420 to 4.1935 versus the euro and settled at 4.18 around noon, while the forint slipped from 271 to 273 per euro and parked at 272.5 afterwards.

For the U.S. dollar, NBR’s exchange rate lowered 0.25 percent to 2.9159 lei per dollar, from yesterday’s 2.9231.
