Midday Forex: RON/EUR hits six-month high



The benchmark exchange rate settled by the National Bank of Romania jumped 0.46 percent to 4.2747 lei per euro, the highest level in six months, on a market with low volatility, after the leu waved between 4.2670 and 4.30 versus the euro, NewsIn informs.
The central bank last posted such a high level on March 25, when the euro was traded for 4.2838 lei.

NBR reported an exchange rate of 4.2552 lei per euro in the previous session.

The national currency floated between 4.2670 and 4.3026 over the euro on opening and at 1:35 p.m. banks were buying a euro with 4.2729 lei and selling it for 4.2879 lei.

In the region, the zloty soared from 4.2465 to 4.21 versus the euro, while the forint slipped from 273.06 to 274.68 per euro.

For the U.S. dollar, NBR’s exchange rate advanced 0.86 percent to 2.9410 lei per dollar, from 2.9159 in the previous session.
