NBR issues 3 coins dedicated to Vlad Tepes
The National Bank of Romania will put into circulation for numismatic purposes a gold coin, a silver coin and a copper-plated tombac coin dedicated to voivode Vlad Tepes on the occasion of celebrating 550 years since the first mention of Bucharest in documents under his reign, in September 20, 1459.
The gold coin has a face value of 500 and will be available in a coinage of 500. The silver coin has a face value of 10 lei and is available in a coinage of 500m while the copper-plated tombac has a face value of 1 leu and is available in a coinage of 1,000.
On the obverse presents in the foreground, the portrait of the voivode Vlad Tepes, on the left side the image of a winder of the Old Princely Court, and below, the Romania’s coat-of-arms. On the outside, in the upper part here is the inscription “ROMANIA” and beneath it the face value of the coin and the year of issue – 2009.
The reverse of the coin shows in the middle the picture of the Old Princely Court, and above, the document containing the first mention of Bucharest and the inscriptions “1945” and “BUCURESTI”. Below, there are the inscriptions “PALATUL VOIEVODAL CURTEA VECHE” on the right side and “550 DE ANI DE LA PRIMA ATESTARE DOCUMENTARA” in the middle.
Each coin is embedded in a transparent plastic capsule and is accompanied by a leaflet featuring an overview of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French.
The selling prices are the following: 4,340 lei (the gold coin), 185 lei (the silver coin) and 85 lei (the copper-plated tombac coin). The price does not include VAT and the price of the case.
The issuing of the coins in numismatic purposes will be made on September 16 through NBR’s branches in Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi and Timis.
