Midday Forex: Leu gains 0.1pc versus euro
The benchmark exchange rate settled by the National Bank of Romania slipped 0.1 percent to 4.2579 lei/euro, after the central bank balanced the excessive liquidity on the market in an effort to head off further depreciation of the local currency, on low volatility of emerging markets in the region, NewsIn informs.
NBR yesterday posted a benchmark exchange rate of 4.2618 lei per euro.
The national currency traded into a narrow range of 4.2550 - 4.2650 versus the euro today.
In the region, the zloty waved between 4.1210 and 4.0974 per euro, while the forint fluctuated between 270.09 and 268.92 versus the single European currency.
For the U.S. dollar, NBR’s exchange rate lowered 0.5 percent to 2.8873 lei per dollar, from 2.9009 in the previous session.
