NBR issues silver coin dedicated to centennial anniversary of the Port of Constanta



The National Bank of Romania will launch, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin with a face value of 10 lei and 37mm in diameter dedicated to the centennial anniversary of Port of Constanta.
The obverse of the coin displays in the foreground the image of “Mircea” Brig (the training ship of the Romanian Marine), on the right the face value of the coin – 10lei, and above, the image of “Carol I” Lighthouse. In the background, the coin presents a view of the port of Constanta displaying the Orthodox Cathedral on the left and the Casino on the right.

The reverse of the coin displays in the lower half in the foreground a modern commercial vessel and in the background, the silos in the port of Constanta designed by engineer Anghel Saligny. In the upper half there is the inscription “100 DE ANI DE LA INAUGURAREA PORTULUI CONSTANTA 1909”.

The coins are embedded in transparent plastic cases ad will be accompanied by a leaflet in Romanian, English and French.

The selling price for the silver coin is 170/lei without VAT. The numismatic issue comprises 500 coins.

The collector silver coins will be put into circulation on October 7, through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi and Timisoara.
