Government plans to raise retirement age to 65 by 2030
Prime Minister Emil Boc said the retirement age would be risen to 65 by 2030, both for women and men.
The government will carry out a review of the compulsory retirement ages for persons that will be integrated in the public pension system working in the magistrates’ court, auxiliary staff from courts and public servants with the Parliament.
“First of all, we will consider raising and equalizing compulsory retirement age for men and women. On the other hand, the pension age will be risen to 60 for women and to 65 for men by 2016, and to 65 both for women and men by 2030, in line with the European legislation and practices”, said the Prime Minister Emil Boc.
Moreover, the pension age for employees in national defense, civil administration and national safety will increase as of 2010.
“The pension age for employees working in national defense, civil administration and national safety will increase. For the time being, the retirement age for them is 55, for men and women. The age will be risen to 60 by 2025”, said Emil Boc at the end of the Government session.
