Midday Forex: Euro stays firm against emerging currencies



The official exchange rate set by the National Bank of Romania increased to 4.2776 lei per euro, as the leu lost ground in the early trades, and went up at noon, in tune with the regional downward trend, NewsIn informs.
The leu stood at 4.2766 versus the euro yesterday, according to NBR.

The euro was traded for 4.2790 lei this morning and then soared to 4.2875. The leu then gained ground to 4.28 per euro and at 1:10 p.m. banks were buying a euro for 4.2720 lei and selling it for 4.2810 lei.

In the region, the Polish zloty fell from 4.2360 to 4.2720 versus the euro and then advanced to 4.2475, while the Hungarian forint slipped from 270 to 271.70 per euro, only to inch back at 270.50 shortly after.

For the U.S. currency, the benchmark exchange rate grew 0.21 percent to 2.9014 lei per dollar, from 2.8952 in the previous session.
