Midday Forex: EUR/RON rate edges up, follows regional trend



The benchmark exchange rate set by the National Bank of Romania increased by 0.04 percent to 4.2903 lei per euro, on scarce transactions in a market dominated by apathy, following a regional trend, NewsIn informs.
NBR posted an exchange rate of 4.2886 lei per euro in the previous session.

The leu traded between 4.2880 and 4.2920 per euro this morning and at 1:05 p.m. banks were buying a euro with 4.2853 lei and selling it for 4.2944 lei.

In the region, the zloty went up from 4.2150 to 4.1950 versus the euro and then slipped to 4.2020, while the forint increased from 267.10 to 266.5 over the single European currency only to come back at 267 around noon.

For the U.S. dollar, NBR’s exchange rate dropped 0.17 percent to 2.8697 lei per dollar, from 2.8746 in the previous session.

On international markets, the U.S. dollar inched from 1.49 to 1.4830 per euro and at 1:05 p.m. EET, the euro was traded for 1.4942 dollars.
