Midday Forex: Euro hovers near 4.29 lei
The benchmark exchange rate set by the National Bank of Romania fell 0.02 percent to 4.2923 lei per euro, as the national currency traded between 4.2920 and 4.2930 versus the euro on the interbank market, trying to break through the 4.29 psychological barrier, NewsIn informs.
NBR yesterday posted an exchange rate of 4.2930 lei per euro.
Banks were buying a euro with 4.2910 lei and selling it for 4.2960 lei at 2:20 p.m.
In the region, the Polish zloty fell from 4.16 to 4.1960 against euro and then inched to 4.1860, while the Hungarian forint dropped from 264.40 to 266.50 versus the euro and recovered to 265.60 afterwards.
For the U.S. dollar, NBR’s exchange rate decreased by 0.27 percent to 2.8672 lei per dollar, from 2.8749 in the previous session.
