Real Hypermarket, anchor tenant for the first time
Real Hypermarkets, part of the German-based retail group Metro, will open tomorrow its new outlet in the long-expected AFI Palace Cotroceni shopping center located at the intersection of Timisoara Blvd and Vasile Milea and represents a €23.4 million investment.
This is the third Real outlet the German group opens in Bucharest and the first as anchor tenant in a shopping center, with a gross retail area of 7,500 sqm and 2,500 parking spaces.
The hypermarket will operate around the clock, it will have 51 checkouts and will create 450 jobs, of 5,000 total available at AFI Palace Cotroceni center.
Last year, Real Hypermarket Romania recorded a sharp increase in sales following ongoing network expansion and organic growth for existent outlets.
Turnover increased from 1.22 billion lei (€367 million) in 2007 to 2.35 billion lei (€638 million) in 2008, a 92% growth (in euro balance 73.8%) year-over-year.
