Midday Forex: Leu trades near all-time low vs euro



The benchmark exchange rate set by the National Bank of Romania grew 0.21 percent to 4.3047 lei per euro, on a market with low transactions, as risk aversion pushed emerging currencies down versus their European peer, NewsIn informs.
The central bank reported an exchange rate of 4.2955 lei per euro in the previous session.

The euro hovered near 4.3050 lei in the early trades and then climbed to 4.3110. The leu then started to gain ground and recouped losses from recovered to the morning quotes.

In the region, the Hungarian forint fell from 274.80 to 275.60 per euro and then increased to 275, while the Polish zloty dropped from 4.2520 to 4.2672 versus the euro and climbed to 4.2389 afterwards.


For the U.S. dollar, NBR’s exchange rate rose 0.78 percent to 2.9152 lei per dollar, from 2.8927 in the previous session.
