Cosmote Romanias nine-month revenues jump 52.6%

Cosmote Romania, third largest mobile network operator said its revenues jumped 52.6% in the nine months through September this year, from €203.4 million in 2008 to €310.4 million at the end of third quarter 2009.
Between July and September this year, Cosmote’s revenues totaled €107.4 million, 24% more than €86.6 million a year earlier. Cosmote’s performance throughout the first nine months stemmed from the increase in customer base from 5.24 million in the year-ago period to 6.59 million users in September.

OIBDA (operating income before depreciation and amortization) was up nearly 419.9% to €54.9 million from €10.6 million recorded in the same period of last year.

Cosmote is the sole mobile network operator that recorded growth at the end of first half, as its peers (Orange and Vodafone) posted declines in revenues.

Year-to-date, Orange, the largest telecom carrier in Romania, recorded revenues of €800 million, 18.1% lower than €977 million in Jan-Sep 2008.
