FIC sector closes down 1%



Shares of financial investment companies (BSE: SIF) closed down 1percent while the Bucharest Stock Market retained modest gain of 0.35percent, as stock-buying lost steam towards closing after US manufacturing data.
On Monday, the Bucharest Stock Exchange traded around 29.24 million lei (€6.8 million), 10% more than 26.5 million lei on Friday.

“Stocks traded sideways today, with no clear direction, as we are still within the Friday’s range. The initial buying frenzy after US stocks finished in green, but faded out at noon in line with the external markets. No spectacular moves have been observed in the market apart from Banca Transilvania”, said Florin Irimin, broker at Intercapital Invest.

BET index that gauges the performance of the ten most liquid stocks at Bucharest Stock Exchange edged up 0.14% to 4,836.39 points, while composite BET-C finished up 0.35% to 2,821.08 points.

BET-FI index, of the five financial investment companies (BSE:SIF), closed down 0.95%, to 22,907.74, while Vienna Stock Exchange ROTX fell 0.07%, to 10,198.68.

BET-XT index of the 25 most liquid stocks stagnated at 468.21 while BET-NG, that measures the performance of ten energy companies at BSE posted mild decline of 0.02% to 612.38.

BSE’s European peers lost steam as well towards local market’s closing bell, after rallying to 13-months high in the early hours. Sellers appeared in the market after Federal Reserve showed manufacturing data fell in November.

At the London Stock Exchange, FTSE index of leading 100 shares gained 1.54% to 5,357.73, while Germany’s DAX jumped 1.16% to 5,752.53. Paris’ CAC40 increased by 0.86% to 3,838.87.

FIC Oltenia shares (BSE: SIF5) have been the most liquid shares in today’s session with 5.41 million lei flow, closed down 0.82% to 1.21lei/share followed by FIC Moldova (BSE: SIF2) with 0.39% decline to 1.07 lei.

In financial sector, BRD SocGen (BSE:BRD) shares fell 0.72% TO 13.70lei after 2.12 million lei trades, while Banca Transilvania (BSE:TLV) finished up 0.95% to 2.12 lei.

Transactions with Petrom shares (BSE:SNP) totaled 1.31 million lei, pushing prices up 1.15% to 0.264lei. Impact Bucharest (BSE: IMP) ended up 2.78% to 0.555 lei.
