Realitatea-Catavencu expands to Moldova



Realitatea-Catavencu, held by Sorin Ovidiu Vantu, will invest €4.5 million in the expansion of its broadcast television services and online business to Moldova, by launching in February 2010 TV news channel Publika TV and publik.md portal.
In order to go for an expansion of this scale, Realitatea-Catavencu has signed a strategic partnership with Chisinau-based Stiri Media Group, for the development of television and online business.

The company also announced the end of talks regarding the acquisition of the majority stake in New Media Group online company, which includes Moldova’s leading news website in Romanian language – unimedia.mdl news website in Russian vesti.md; women website ladyclub.md and advertising company AdCenter.

The news channel Publika TV is expected to begin broadcasting in mid February 2010.

Around 150 Moldovan journalists, business experts and political analysts are participating in the project, as well as 100 technicians.

Yesterday, Sorin Ovidiu Vantu, owner of Realitatea-Catavencu media group said he would relinquish all print media operations and focus on new media and television instead.
