Midday Forex: RON/EUR hits two-month high



The National Bank of Romania has set a mid-point reference rate of 4.2513 lei/euro, up marginally from yesterday (0.04%) for the first time in two weeks, after a poor volatility in the morning.
Yesterday, the central bank posted a reference rate of 4.2496 lei against euro.

“The leu settled into a narrow range of 4.2480 - 4.2530 in fairly quiet trade today”, a dealer said.

In the region, the Polish zloty had a good start today, growing from 4.168 to 4.159 against its European peer, but fell afterwards to 4.172 units/euro. The Hungarian forint traded mixed today, and hovered near 274.2 – 276.5.

Versus the US dollar, the reference rate posted by the National Bank of Romania gained 0.75% to 2.9238 lei/US dollar from yesterday’s 2.9019.
