Midday Forex: Leu slips versus euro
The RON/EUR reference rate fixed by the National Bank of Romania climbed 0.35% to 4.2268, as the leu had a weaker start, contrary to its regional peers that fell at noon after moving higher in the morning.
Yesterday, the National Bank of Romania set a reference rate of 4.2119 lei/euro.
The national currency fell constantly in the morning, from 4.2170 to 4.2280 lei/euro, and hovered near this level afterwards.
In the region, the Polish zloty increased from 4.1950 to 4.1750 units/euro, and then weakened to 4.1860 zloty/euro, while the Hungarian forint went up from 275.10 to 273.50 forints/euro and then fell to 274.20 forints/euro.
Versus US dollar, the reference rate set by the National Bank of Romania increased by 0.58% to 2.9539 lei/USdollar, from Monday’s 2.9368 lei/dollar.
