BET index closes near 2009 highs



BET index at the Bucharest Stock Exchange finished up 0.50% today, after exceeding the 2008 record values in late trading. However, the momentum was short-lived, after financial investment companies suffered 0.30% decline.
The trading volumes at the Bucharest Stock Exchange shrank sharply today to 10.84 million lei (€2.60 million), compared to 15.96 million yesterday (€3.79 million).

BET index that gauges the performance of the ten most liquid stocks at BSE closed 0.48% higher to 4,950.41, while composite BET-C climbed 0.29% to 2,846.73.

BET-FI index of the five financial investment companies (BSE:SIF) shed 0.27% to 24,885.64 points, and Vienna’s ROTX added 0.53% to 10,215.31.

BET-XT index of the 25 most traded stocks at BSE closed 0.29% higher to 485.63 points, while BET-NG of ten energy stocks fell 0.46% to 620.58 points.

European indexes were trading near their reference values at BSE’s closing, as the banking and pharma stocks’ gain was wiped out by the decline in energy sector triggered by the falling crude prices.

At the London Stock Exchange, FTSE index of leading 100 shares was dropping 0.13% to 5,515.06 points, while Germany’s DAX was showing a modest 0.09% decrease to 6,026.62 points. Paris’ CAC40 was inching down 0.03% to 4,012.91 points.

FIC Oltenia shares (BSE:SIF5) have been the most traded today, with shares worth 2.2 million lei changing hand, and held steady throughout the session at around 1.34 lei. FIC Moldova shares (BSE:SIF2) fell 0.85% to 1.17lei in a liquidity of 1.97 million lei.

In the banking sector, transactions with Banca Transilvania (BSE:TLV) totaled 1.73 million lei, while shares jumped 3014% to 2.30lei. BRD SocGen (BSE:BRD) increased by 0.73% to 13.80 million lei in a liquidity of 1.31 million lei.

Petrom shares (BSE:SNP) went 1.13% down to 0.262lei, as transactions totaled 992,700lei, while Rompetrol Rafinare (BSE:RRC) remained at 0.0665lei in a liquidity of 235,100 lei.
