Banca Transilvania digs into technology
In 2009, Banca Transilvania tech spending has topped €10 million, and should remain at this level throughout this year, according to Leontin Toderici, chief operations officer of the bank.
The budget allocated for this period stand at a pretty comfortable level, as most of the companies have sharply cut or frozen investments in technology last year, the manager added.
Banca Transilvania has implemented the Sun-based Oracle Exdata database machine Version 2, launched in September 2009, one of the world’s largest software makers, the warehousing system allowing 30-times faster access to information.
The installation of the system that cost few hundred thousand euro has been assured by Oracle Romania and Trend Import-Export, local company with revenues of around €11 mln in 2009.
This year, Banca Transilvania said it plans to upgrade its card acceptance and issuing system as well as its Internet Banking services.
