RCS&RDS acquires telecom service provider Airbites



RCS&RDS, internet and TV cable service provider acquired Airbites telecom company, according to a notification posted by Airbites on its website.

Airbites subscribers will benefit of all RCS&RDS service suite that includes cable television, landline and mobile telephony, Internet and mobile internet.

“Airbites notifies you that all contractual rights and obligations are transferred to RCS&RDS. The monthly subscription will be paid henceforth to RCS&RDS at any of the Airbites units or any other RCS&RDS unit,” the telecom company said on its website.

The company is 99.9994% held by Swisscom Central&Eastern. Airbites Slovakia holds 0.0006% shares, according to official figures from the Trade Registry.

The news came in initially on subiectiv.ro blog held by journalist Alex Mihaileanu.

In 2008, Airbites had a turnover of €2.9 million and loss of around €8.4 million according to data from the Ministry of Finance. The company had 80 employees.

RCS&RDS reported €22.9 million loss in 2008, from €18.5 million profit in 2007, after turnover grew 11.6% from €346.5 million two years ago to €386.7 million in 2008.
