Midday Forex: EUR/RON stays above 4.13
The reference exchange rate set by the National Bank of Romania inched up 0.16% to 4.1319 against euro, in line with its peers in the regions.
On Monday, the central bank set a reference rate of 4.1252 lei/euro. The leu took a sudden dive on Tuesday morning, from 4.1210 to 4.1360 lei against its European counterpart, but recouped partially to 4.1320lei/euro.
Currencies in the region fell today against euro, following dollar’s sharp weakening. The Polish zloty fell from 4.07 to 4.10 units/euro, and traded in 4.09 – 4.1050 range afterwards. The Hungarian forint declined from 272.40 to 273.50 units/euro and traded in 272.90 – 273.60 band at noon.
For the US dollar, the reference rate is 2.9309 lei/US dollar, up 0.79% from Monday’s 2.9079.
