Midday Forex: EUR/RON breaks through the 4.1 barrier
The reference rate set by the National Bank of Romania fell heavily today by 1.01% to 4.0805 lei against its European counterpart, the strongest level in a year.
The leu touched 4.0805 lei today, the most since January 7, 2009, when the central bank set a reference rate of 4.0720 lei/euro.
On Friday, NBR set a reference rate of 4.1220 lei/euro.
For the US dollar, the central bank set a rate of 2.9358 lei/US dollar, down 0.5% from Friday’s level.
