BSE stocks post modest gains at closing

The stocks at the Bucharest Stock Exchange closed on the upside by modest margins today, with 0.50% gain while the FIC sector’s growth (BSE:SIF) came in far short of estimates, despite the 3% advance in the morning on massive capital flight from FIC stocks after equity holding limit updates.
The liquidity at the stock market increased to 43.86 million lei (€10.73 million), by 18% from yesterday’s level of 37.29 million lei (€9.14 million).

“We’ve seen a quieter trading today compared to yesterday, and many investors preferred to sell their holdings after the Deputy Chamber okayed the equity holding limit raise. The gains will probably be supported in the coming sessions, should new updates on the regulatory process for the increase in equity holding limit at financial investment companies emerge, and European markets fail to turn bearish”, Marian Lupu, deputy director at Estinvest told NewsIn.

BET index that gauges the performance of the ten most actively traded stocks at BSE rose marginally by 0.04% to 5,129.79 points, while composite BET-C gained 0.49% to 3,022.26 points.

BET-FI index of the five financial investment companies (BSE:SIF) climbed 0.74% to 29,887.51 points, while Vienna’s ROTX closed 0.04% up to 10,494.99 points.

BET-XT index of the 25 most traded stocks at BSE finished up 0.41% to 527.81 points while BET-NG of ten energy companies held steady at 660.96 points.

European stocks were on the red at BSE’s closing. At the London Stock Exchange, the FTSE index of the leading 100 companies was shedding 0.36% to 5,264 points, while Germany’s DAX was moving 0.24% lower to 5,696 points. France’s CAC40 was dropping 0.07% to 3,809 points.

FIC Oltenia stocks (BSE:SIF5) caught the greatest interest today, with 10.74 million lei liquidity while stock prices fell 0.62% to 1.61 lei. FIC Moldova (BSE:SIF2) suffered 0.72% drop to 1.38 lei.

In the banking sector, BRD SocGen (BSE:BRD) rose 0.67% to 15.10 lei, while Banca Transilvania (BSE:TLV) slumped 2.09% to 2.09 lei.

Transactions with Petrom (BSE:SNP) totaled 1.41 million lei, while shares held steady at 0.2840 lei, while Dafora Medias closed 1.64% up to 0.1240 lei.
