Farmache: Alpha Bank has above-average capital ratio

Alpha Bank’s risk-adjusted capital ratio topped banking sector average, after the earlier 288.37 million lei (around €70 million) cash inflow from its parent group, Stere Farmache, vice president of the bank told NewsIn.
“The capital hike by €70 million enabled an increase in own reserves and secured an above-average financial strength. On the other hand, with the capital inflow, the parent bank has reaffirmed its commitment to keep its overall exposure in Romania on a long-term”, said Farmache.

At the end of December, the capital ratio of the banking sector stood at 14.03%, well above the minimum statutory capital requirements of 8%, and the recommended level of 10%.

The parent bank of Alpha Bank added 288.23 million lei to its Romanian subsidiary reserves, the equivalent of 25 shares. Erini Brintaki participated in the capital hike with 144,115 lei, thus underwriting 1,251 shares.

The bank now has a capital of 958.81 million lei. Alpha Bank AE holds 99.59% interest in the Romanian subsidiary.
