Orange CEO on the carriers performance in 2009

Orange, the largest mobile telecom operator in Romania, reported a 19.5% decline in revenues in 2009 from €1.31 billion in 2008.
The company reached a customer base of around 10.95 million subscribers, 6.2% more than end-2008.

In the fourth quarter 2009, the number of customers increased by 300,000 following the launch of the new Orange subscription portfolio: Dolphin, Panther and Butterfly.

Annual revenues per user averaged €92.

“The performance of the company has been in line with our plans for a year when the entire economic environment felt the effects of the recession. After two successive quarters of retaining the leading position in terms of customer addition, the number of Orange mobile services users increased in the fourth quarter as well”, said Thierry Millet (photo), chief executive of Orange Romania.

Broadband customer base of Orange Romania increased by 62% to 2,708,000 in 2009.
