BSE lays foundation for CO2 emissions trading
The board of the Bucharest Stock Exchange passed yesterday the amendments to BSE Code to establish the necessary framework for direct carbon dioxide emissions trading, said Stere Farmache, chairman of BSE.
The Romanian National Securities Commission gave green light to the placement of CO2 emission certificates within the definition of a security that can be traded by local and foreign brokers.
“The framework for the introduction of these instruments has been established. All we have to do now is talk to the representatives of Central Depository to connect to the registry”, said Stere Farmache (photo).
As for the CO2 emission products clearing, Farmache said the job was down to the Central Depository, and that the clearing mechanism could be similar to stock transactions clearing system.
