The Management and the Supervisory board of Erste Group in yesterday’s meetings have made a number of decisions regarding the group’s management structure and related personnel matters.
The Supervisory Board of Erste Group has appointed Martin Skopek, currently executive vicepresident Retail and Board Member of BCR, as Holding Board member responsible for the retail business. He will take over the new position starting with July 1st, 2010 after resigning from his current position in BCR. He has joined the BCR management team in 2006, successfully managing the alignment and transformation process of the retail business after BCR became a member of Erste Group.

Oana Petrescu (photo up), currently executive vicepresident Operations & IT and Board Member, will take over Martin Skopek’s retail responsibilities on the Management Board of BCR from July 1st, 2010. Dominic Bruynseels, the CEO of BCR, will assume responsibility for her previous role until her successor has been appointed.

Oana Petrescu has extensive experience in banking as a top executive - as a Member of the BCR Board and an active participant in the transformation processes of BCR as well as a head of financial services division at Andersen and Ernst&Young. As a member of the BCR Board in charge with Operations and IT Oana Petrescu has had a significant contribution to organizing service delivery to the BCR retail business in various areas such as: retail operations, payments processing, branch network expansion and optimization, alternative channels development. She is currently holding the vice-president position of the Romanian Banks Association.

In line with best practice at Erste Group’s major subsidiaries, following the completion of BCR’s integration and transformation program, a decision was reached to appoint a fully dedicated Chief Risk Officer (CRO) at the Management Board of BCR, a function previously within the remit of the bank’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

CRO tasks and responsibilities will be taken over by Michael Beitz as of August 1, 2010.

Helmuth Hintringer, currently executive vice president Financial&Risk and Board Member of BCR, will focus on his role as Chief Financial Officer, an extremely important one in terms of performances in the context of BCR widening its activities as a financial group.

Michael Beitz (pictured right) has been working as senior risk manager at Erste Group for the past 25 years and as such has extensive experience in analyses and credit risk management. He has been responsible for the risk management at Ceska sporitelna and currently is the CRO at Slovenska sporitelna. Mr. Beitz is already familiar with BCR, having been part of the transition team upon the acquisition by Erste Group.

All appointments need to be confirmed by the BCR Supervisory Board and are subject to approval by the National Bank of Romania.
