Top 5 fund managers in first quarter



Fund managers’ assets under custody has increased by 28% in the first quarter to 4.46 billion (€1.08 billion). Wall-Street compiled a list of five asset managers by total assets at the end of first quarter, based on the data provided by the Romanian Fund Managers Association (AAF).

5. OTP Asset Management

OTP Asset Management had 136.6 million lei assets under custody at the end of three month period ending March 31, 18% more than the same period of 2009.

OTP AM’s open-end funds had 113.5 million lei under management, while closed-end investment schemes had 22.3 million lei.

The asset management firm also holds wrap accounts of 0.4 million lei. The aggregate market share stood at 3.02% in first quarter.


4. BT Asset Management

BT Asset Management takes the fourth spot, in the quarterly top five fund managers list, with total assets of 278.4 million lei under custody.

BT AM recorded the biggest gain of all fund managers under review in the three-month period, of 62%.

BT AM’s mutual funds had 246.3 million lei under management, while closed-end investment schemes had 28.9 million lei.

In first quarter, the company had 3.2 million lei in wrap accounts and a market share of 6.16%.


3. BRD Asset Management

BRD Societe Generale’s asset management unit had 384 million lei assets under custody at the end of first quarter 2010, up 28% from a year earlier.

BRD AM’s four open-end investment schemes had an aggregate share of 8.49%.


2. Raiffeisen Asset Management (RAM)

Raiffeisen Asset Management recorded 36% growth in assets in the first quarter 2010, to 1.45 billion lei.

RAM’s open-end funds had 1.38 billion lei under management, while closed-end investment schemes had 40.7 million lei, and wrap accounts 31.7 million lei.

The asset manager has a market share of 32.27%.


1. Erste Asset Management

Erste retained the top spot as the biggest fund manager in the first quarter, with 191 billion lei under custody, 26% up from year-ago period.

Erste Asset Management’s mutual funds had 1.91 billion lei under management, while wrap accounts had 5.08 million lei.

Erste AM has the biggest market share among its peers, of 42.44%.
