Lindab moves production to Stefanestii de Jos, lays off 22

Lindab Romania said it would move its sheet metal production lines from Sibiu to Stefanestii de Jos (Ilfov county), in an effort to increase operations efficiency, a move that would result in the layoff of 22 workers.
The structural steel production line will not be relocated, given that there is a similar one at Stefanestii de Jos. Sibiu facility will serve as logistic hub of the sheet metal manufacturer, for a better order management in the area. The relocation process is expected to complete at the end of May.

“Through this relocation, we will reduce the processing costs and ensure a higher quality of the products by applying Lindab standards and logistic services. (…) The decision to integrate production capacities at Stefanestii de Jos, also brought about staff costs reductions at Sibiu. The 22 workers affected by this decision will receive our support in finding another job as soon as possible”, said Andrei Sulyok (photo), chief executive of Lindab Romania.

Lindab operates in the Romanian market since 1998. Profile and Ventilation are the main business lines of the company. Lindab Profile produces and promotes steel sheeting solutions and systems for the construction industry: guttering, down pipes, profile sheeting for roofs, garage doors, steel buildings with light gauge technology and others.

In 2009, Lindab Romania merged with Rova Romania. Rova however remained a distinct brand, integrated in Lindab’s portfolio.
